Galveston, Texas – Shelby Jonae Franklin was born to Lauretta Robinson and John Franklin on July 17, 1991. She was preceded in death by her brother, Tristan Denton, her great-grandparents, two uncles, her godmother, and several cousins.

Shelby’s memory lives on through her children: Shemar and Sheldon Johnson, and Naziyah Franklin. She is also remembered by her mother, Lauretta Robinson; her father, John Franklin, Jr.; and her grandparents, Regina Robinson Jackson, John Franklin, Sr., and Francis Charles. She leaves behind her grandmother, Linda Ferguson (Fred), as well as her sisters, Geraldisha Robinson and Roykeshia Smith. In addition, she is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A service to honor Shelby’s life will be held on February 22, 2025, at Jerusalem Baptist Church, located at 2717 A. S. Johnson. A viewing will take place at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m.
