Oscar Douglas Obituary

Oscar “Ali” Douglas was born on January 20, 1971, in Galveston, Texas, at St. Mary’s Hospital, to Helen Marie and Oscar Lee Douglas. As the firstborn child, Ali entered the world with a quiet strength and presence that would come to define both his life and the way he connected with others. Raised in Galveston and educated in the Catholic school system, Ali distinguished himself early through both academic achievement and athletic ability. He carried natural discipline and determination that followed him into adulthood, ultimately earning a degree in Business from the University of Houston. With a clear vision for his future, Ali was a man of ambition, poised to build a life marked by purpose and success. Grounded in faith, Ali grew up in the church and was baptized at Live Oak Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Byron Williams. His spiritual foundation remained a steady source of strength, guiding him through seasons of promise and moments of profound challenge.

As his professional aspirations began to take shape, Ali was faced with a lifealtering diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis. What followed was a journey marked not only by physical hardship, but by resilience, courage, and an enduring spirit. Though the illness progressed and significantly impacted his health, it never diminished the essence of who he was. Those who knew Ali recognized his quiet strength, his perseverance, and the dignity with which he navigated life. His life, though not without its trials, was rich in love, connection, and meaning. He shared deep and lasting bonds with family and friends who stood alongside him and witnessed both his challenges and his strength. His journey, though shorter than many would have desired, leaves behind a legacy rooted in endurance, faith, and authenticity.

Ali is preceded in death by his father.

Those left to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted mother, Helen Douglas; his sister, Christie Stinson (Derrick); his cherished nieces and nephew, Christina, Elizabeth, and Elshon Stinson, along with a host of extended family members and dear friends who will forever hold him in their hearts,
