Mary Alice Bales was born on March 16, 1956, in Trinity, Texas to Willie Tom Hatley Sr. and Eula Mae Cunningham. After graduating from Trinity High School, she moved to Galveston, Texas, where she worked at UTMB as a Patient Care Technician until retirement. Even after retiring, she continued caring for others as a home health provider.

Mary was full of life fun, outgoing, and generous to a fault. She’d give you her last dollar, just as long as she could grab a Coca-Cola and a pack of cigarettes first. She loved playing cards, going to the casino, and spending time with her family. She was always ready to ride with Vickie and Boo on errands, and her laughter could light up any room.

On October 18, 2025, Mary was called home to be with the Lord. She now rests with her parents, her brothers Charles Earl Morning, Ollie Morning Jr., and Willie Haynes Morning, and her sister Pearline Morning.
