Mr. Larian Simpson was born April 5, 1944, in Grand Cane, Louisiana, to the late Louis Simpson, Sr., Eula, and Frank Jones Sr.
Early on, he attended Second Ward Elementary School in Grand Cane, later moving to Galveston, TX at 13 years old. Upon moving, Larian attended Goliad Jr. High where he learned to play basketball, a sport he would love for the rest of his life. He continued playing basketball at Central High School, even helping his team reach the 1963 State Basketball Championship game, and graduated from Central High School that same year. Shortly after, he met & married the love of his life, Donna Davis, and their beloved union spanned over 50 beautiful years.
A man of unwavering dedication and integrity, Larian ‘Larry/Law’ Simpson devoted his life to hard work and service. He spent 25 years as a cook at St. Mary’s Hospital, where his reliability and quiet strength earned the respect of those around him. Following his time at the hospital, he remained a cook for 15 years at Texas A&M-Galveston, and worked 19 years at Kroger, where he became a familiar and friendly face to all who knew him. Larian’s work ethic, humility, and commitment to doing every job well are part of the legacy he leaves behind.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Eula & Louis Simpson Sr., Frank Jones Sr., brother Frank Jones Jr., & his wife Donna Simpson.
Larian leaves to cherish his precious memories, his son Larian Donnell (Trintessa); brothers Robert Sr. (Debra), Artha Sr. (Electa), Rev. Louis Simpson Jr., Barry Jones, Rev. Andrew Simpson (Rose), & Kenneth; sisters Winnie, Marilyn, and Shirley; uncle Dennis Simpson (Irene), special cousin Louise C.
