Katie Woodworth 97, of Galveston Texas passed away at home on March 26th 2025 peacefully surrounded by her family. She is Survived by (Daughter) Myrna Woods Franklin (Dale), (Son) Erroll Woodworth (Winnifred), (Son) Jerrell Woodworth. Proceeded in Death by her Parents Annetta Clark Harvey (mother) and Clarence Harvey (father), Clarence Harvey (brother) Reginald Brooks (son)Quinta Cleveland (Great Grandchild) Roshard Johnson (Great Grandson). She also had 9 Grandchildren Derrick Brooks (Chandra) Chelette Cleveland Gaskin, Shawn Cleveland, Jerod Jackson (Tericia) Jennifer Brooks (Brandon) Dana Little, Roshawn Johnson, Tamika Brown (David), Brittany Woodworth.
12 Great Grand Children Demonte Brooks, Demarius Brooks, Devyn Brooks, Roshawna Johnson, Jayden Woodworth Brooks, Ray Anthony Little, Camron Brooks, Chloe Brooks, Mirel Pierre, Royal Johnson, Kendall Brooks, Ti’Yonne Campbell, Ti’Cyn Campbell, and Nichlolas Ray whom she loves with all heart.
Katie was born March 29, 1927 in Galveston Texas to Annette Clark (Mother) Clarence Harvey (Father)
She graduated from Central High School Class of 1944. Ms. Katie was one of the oldest faithful members of west Point Missionary Baptist Church for over 30 years where she worked in the kitchen and helped with church fundraisers. Katie was a professional Barber for over 10 years at “Be Neat Barbershop” which inspired the way for other African American Women to become Barbers in Galveston County. MS Katie was a part of the African American Black Civil Defense Auxiliary of Galveston County and one of the early Residents of Cedar Terrace. As a mother she wanted to help in some way for the community so, she became a part of the Residential Housing Authority Committee traveling to Chicago for a collaboration event with other families making critical input on housing needs in Galveston community. Ms. Katie worked for Galveston County School District Building Facilities for years making an impact on children and staff there daily. She retired from Moody National Bank as a Housekeeping Lead Supervisor. Katie was done serving her community, but still felt it in her heart to help others with her love and care as a Home Health provider.
In Katie’s free time she loved to spend time with her family and she loved a good backyard barbecues, shopping, cooking, watching the Dallas Cowboy football Game and the Houston Rockets basketball game. Katie will be deeply missed by her family and friends and all her knew her.
Family and Friends are invited to attend a celebration of life will be held on Friday April 4th 2025 at West Point Missionary Baptist Church Rev. Dr. Kerry W. Tillmon. 3003 Avenue M. Galveston, Tx 77550. Visitation at 10:00 a.m. Service at 11:00 a.m. The family asks that you please send all flowers to the funeral home listed below.
