Joseph Broussard Obituary

Joseph Broussard, known to many as “Fuzzy” or “Buck,” was born on January 3, 1948, and passed away on January 9, 2026, in Webster, Texas, at the age of 78. He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose life reflected hard work, quiet strength, and a deep love for family, water, and community.

Joseph was preceded in death by Joseph Broussard (grandfather), Mary Broussard (grandmother), Hazel Guillory Marshall (mother), and Lawrence Werdlow (brother).

Born and raised in the La Marque, Texas area, Joseph attended Woodland Elementary School and Lincoln High School (Class of 1966), where he played football. As a young man, he worked as a lifeguard at Carver Park and later attended Galveston College for HVAC training.

Joseph was employed at Union Carbide, worked as a longshoreman, and later became a business owner. He owned Buck’s Air Conditioning and the Billiard Emporium in Galveston and Texas City. His billiard hall was more than a business—it was a community gathering place where Joe hosted influential Tejano bands such as Silverado, Quedetas, and Lalo and the Originals, as well as Fast Eddie Parker, a legendary pool player whose real-life skill and charisma inspired the character in The Hustler.

Joseph also served the community as a driver with Clear Creek ISD, Hitchcock ISD, and Gulf Coast Transit, and earned his paralegal certification from San Jacinto Junior College.

A man of faith, Joseph was raised at Queen of Peace Church in La Marque, where he once served as an altar boy. He enjoyed fishing, barbecuing, watching football, and playing nine-ball on his own tables.

Joseph is survived by his children André Kizzie (Erica), Cassie Cains (Eric), Nicole Broussard, Natalie Broussard, Alvaro Bautista (Kanyin), Gabriela Broussard, and Galilea Broussard; his siblings Florence Werdlow Spencer, Lynn Marshall, and Woodrow Marshall; and by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Joseph is also lovingly remembered by his special friends Mr. and Mrs. Tomas Garcia and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin B. Scott Jr.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Wynn Funeral Home, 602 32nd Street, Galveston, Texas.
