Ida Lee Clanton, 79, passed from this earthly life on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, after a lengthy illness. She was born in Galveston, Texas, on July 6, 1945, to the union of the late William Melvin Sims, Sr., and Lillie Mae Sims.
Ida Lee attended public school in Galveston. After finishing school, she worked as a caregiver and later met her beloved husband, Harold Singleton, and raised a beautiful daughter, Sharonda Winn.
Ida Lee was kind and generous. She always put others’ needs before hers. Her love and compassion extended to all those who knew her. She will be remembered for her infectious smile, laugh, and humorous personality. She enjoyed spending time with family, playing cards, and dancing the night away.
Ida Lee is preceded in death by her father, William Melvin Sims, Sr., mother, Lillie Mae Sims; husband, Harold Dean Singleton; brothers, William Melvin Sims, Jr; Jack Curtis Sims both of Galveston; sisters Tommy Lee Davis of California, and Florence Louise Wingate of Galveston.
She leaves loving memories with her daughter, Sharonda Winn, sister, Melvina Wingate, brothers Nathan and Isaac Sims, a devoted nephew Nathan Letroise, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. Her beautiful spirit will always be loved, never forgotten, and forever missed by all those who loved her.
