George William Duff Jr. was born on June 6, 1947, in Bruce, Mississippi, to the late George and Susie Duff. He attended public schools in Bruce before venturing to Galveston, Texas, where he became a well-known and beloved figure in the community, affectionately known as “Duff”.
Duff had a natural love for people, and his infectious smile, hearty laughter, and kind spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He enjoyed life in his own way, always embracing those around him with warmth and good humor. Though his work was sporadic, his presence was constant – a familiar and cherished part of the Galveston community.
As the years passed, Duff faced health challenges, but his resilience never wavered. He fought a good fight, holding onto his signature joy and laughter until the very end. On Tuesday, March 18, 2025, he peacefully departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
He is survived by his children: Georgetta Medlock (Andre), Curtis Duff (Patricia), Bernice Duff (Richard), Danisha Bell, Ashley Vallair, and Roshawn Canada, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Duff’s life will be celebrated in a way that honors his vibrant spirit and the joy he brought to so many. Though he is no longer with us, his laughter echoes on, and his memory will forever be a source of love and light.
May he rest in peace.
