Mr. Frederick “Sudie” Marsh was born May 21, 1938, to Robert and Beulah Marsh in Weeks Island, Louisiana. Sudie and his family moved to Galveston in 1942. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He graduated from Central high school in 1956.
He worked at Lipton Tea Company for 23 years. His passion, however; was waiting tables at several local hotels: Jack Tar, American National, Flagship, Clary’s, and Moody Gardens- where he was proud to hire and mentor young men entering the food service industry. He enjoyed spending time with family and making people laugh. He also enjoyed barbecuing, golfing, crabbing, and socializing at local establishments.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers- Robert, Edward, Ivan and Melvin Marsh, his son Ivan Marsh and his granddaughter Tiffany Marsh.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Julia Marsh, six children, Lisa Marsh Rayson, Frederick Marsh (Rosalind), Warren Marsh (Belva), Yvette Marsh Johnson (Derrick), and Bernadette Marsh- His sister Martha Marsh Majors (Anthony), sisters-in-law Joann Marsh, Ethel Dixon, Leola Hallett, and Yvonne Pruitt, and a nephew, Joey Marsh (Janele).
He has 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
A service to honor Fredrick's life will be March 8th, 2025, at Holy Rosary Catholic. The viewing will take place at 9:00am, the rosary at 10:00 am, and the funeral service at 11:00 am.
