On June 2, 1987, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Galveston, Texas, a sweet baby boy was born to Wilson Mathews Jr. and Angela Jones-Mathews. He was lovingly named Corin Lemuel Mathews by his father and grandfather, who affectionately called him “Stick Man”—a testament to his enduring bond with family from the very start. To most who knew and cherished him, Corin was simply called “Boobie.” On March 20, 2025, at Jennie Sealy Hospital, cradled in the love of his grief-stricken family, Corin went to be with the Lord.
Corin built a life anchored in hard work and devotion. A 2005 graduate of Ball High School, Corin went on to build a career with Halliburton and the Galveston Park Board.
On December 13, 2014, Corin wed his soulmate, Leslie Munoz-Mathews, and together they created a family. To Corin, family was his masterpiece. He took immense pride in being a dutiful husband, an active father, and an ardent provider. Corin found joy in fishing, cooking for his family, and spending quality time with them. He could often be found napping on his recliner holding one of his children or sitting on his front porch with his wife, watching their children play.
Boobie's heart was a compass of kindness. His jovial spirit and quick smile disarmed strangers and friends alike, while his thoughtful words and gentle empathy bridged divides and softened hearts. He lived intentionally, prioritizing peace and loyalty, weaving unbreakable bonds with those fortunate enough to know him. His love flowed as freely as the Gulf breeze—a gift his family will carry forever.
Corin was a remarkable soul who left an indelible impact on everyone privileged to have encountered him. Let the work he has done speak for him.
Corin’s legacy thrives in his loving and devoted wife, Leslie Munoz-Mathews, and their children: Ashlynn Abelar, Ma’Leah Pomier, Legend Mathews, Lemuel Mathews, Legacy Mathews, and Leyla Mathews. He also leaves behind his parents: Wilson Mathews Jr. and Angela R. Jones, Step father Kenneth G. Jones; his brother Wilson Mathews III; sisters Jennifer Jones-Williams, Chasity R. Jones, Savannah K. Jones; and a large extended family of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who cherished him deeply.
He now reunites in eternity with his infant brother, Kenneth Francois Napoleon Jones, and grandparents Wilson and Rose Mary Mathews Sr., Velma Gordwin, and Brenson Bailey and Mother -in- law Delma Benavidez.
