Alexis Ausberry-Johnson Obituary

On Thursday morning, August 28th, 2025, at the age of 27 Alexis Ausberry-Johnson was called home by her Heavenly Father. Alexis was born December 17th, 1997 in Galveston, TX to her loving family who embraced her. She began her life in a godly household. Alexis had a big personality that made everyone who knew her smile. She also had a great social media presence in which showcased her exceptional dance moves. Alexis loved to laugh. She was funny, and her vibrant personality created positive vibes in whatever room she entered. She was raised in Compton Memorial Church of God in Christ in Galveston TX under Pastor Woodard’s leadership where she attended with her beloved Grandmother, where the love of God was instilled in her. Alexis was a beautiful daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend of many. She touched our lives with her profound sense of humor  and creativity, that she possed. Her personality was beautifully illustrated throughout her life. Alexis loved to dance, laugh, and was next level funny.

Alexis was in a military family, where she traveled the country while growing into the wonderful young lady she became. She lived in  Texas, Virginia , California, South Carolina, and Florida, just to name a few.

Alexis attended  school in Texas at LA Morgan and Mainland Prep where she began her praise dance journey.  Alexis attended Charter School in Virginia where she began her track skills. She was a black belt in karate and knew her music in the marching band in which she played six different instruments. She played softball, basketball, and other sports of choice. She had writing skills, and she wrote encouraging poems for her school, which was published in California. She was also a great actress which landed her a role in a Welch’s commercial. Alexis attended high school in South Carolina, where her track Coach  Ms. Singleton was like a second mother to her. Bible scriptures Psalm 23, Psalm 34, and Psalm 91 were Ms. Singleton’s favorite scriptures that Alexis studied after her passing.

She attended Eastbay, where she graduated with a 5.2 GPA. She then attended HCC for a year  before transferring to University of South Florida. She loved her college friends and professors dearly for assisting her through college where she earned a bachelor's degree in Health Science and a Master’s degree in Exercise Science. She was also on the waiting list for the PHD program.  Alexis worked at Applebee's & Chipotle to help pay for her PHD. She was a leader who built trust and could reach people in rare, vulnerable, and tender ways. Her legacy has left a significant positive impact on everyone she knew.

Alexis personal mission was to create a sustainable and unified world by helping herself and others transform. This mission has been fulfilled and will continue on through the lives she touched. Alexis loved her church family at the Love First Christian Center that is lead by Senior Pastor Jomo and Charmaine Cousins.

Alexis connected with people from all walks of life, cultures, and social media. Her family, friends, coworkers, and college classmates heard so many wonderful stories about everyone. Alexis was a sports fan, she loved  track , Dallas Cowboys, OKC Thunder, OU football team, and the Oklahoma softball team. Alexis loved to entertain by playing games, singing, karaoke, running, reading, writing in a journal, drawing,  playing instruments, music , and dancing. Alexis loved to decorate our island at home for birthdays, Mother’s Day , & Father's Day. Alexis will be missed by everyone.

Alexis is survived by her mother, Lakesha of Riverview Fl, her father Jerome of Riverview Fl Her grandmother Ms. Graves, Great Auntie Nancy Msher, beloved sisters Dujour, Kijana, Te'a , Danielle, & Jakayla her brother John Jr., other father  John Sr, her beloved uncles Calvin(Tanji), Robert Scurry, Robert Jr. and Joey (Athena). Aunties Elisa, Elaine, Janice (Dan) , Kelly B, Lisa P, and Judy(Percy). When visiting Texas every year she stay with her beloved Aunt Jada (Charles). Also her cousins whom she considered sisters DeAsia, Jaylin and Briana. Six nieces, two nephews and her cousin Justin whom she considered a brother. Cousins from Chicago Robyne, Rosalyn and Robert B. Last but not least Prince, her beloved dog of 6 years, a host of other relatives, co-workers, and friends who will forever cherish Alexis.
