Albert Samuel LeBlanc, Sr. passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on September 7, 1947, in New Orleans, Louisiana, he was the son of Ruby Harris LeBlanc and Lawrence LeBlanc.
Raised in New Orleans, Albert developed the strong character, determination, and outspoken spirit that would define him throughout his life. He graduated from Joseph S. Clark Senior High School in 1965 and later completed military training at Fort Polk, Louisiana, and Fort Eustis, Virginia.
A proud patriot, Albert honorably served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1972, including service during the Vietnam War. His military honors included the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Expert Badge (Rifle-M16). He proudly lived by the words, “I'm Army Strong.”
Following his military service, Albert worked as a Medical Records Clerk with the Department of Veterans Affairs in Syracuse, New York. He also maintained an interest in civic engagement and, in 2010, ran to become a Democratic National Delegate representing Houston during the 2012 Presidential Election cycle.
In 1971, Albert met Emma Merriweather, and they married in 1972. From this union came three children whom he loved dearly: Michelle LeBlanc-Manigault, Albert LeBlanc, Jr., and Angela LeBlanc-Green. Although their marriage later ended, the family they created remained one of Albert's greatest blessings.
Albert enjoyed golfing, cooking, music, dancing, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, and appreciating the finer things in life. Known for speaking his mind, he was admired for his honesty, confidence, authenticity, and sense of humor.
A Christian by faith, Albert found encouragement and fellowship through his attendance at Lakewood Church.
Albert was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Harris LeBlanc; his brother, Stephen LeBlanc; and his brother-in-law, Morris Metoyer.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Michelle LeBlanc-Manigault, Albert LeBlanc, Jr., and Angela LeBlanc-Green (Benjamin Green); grandchildren Shaquil Manigault, Naquira Manigault, Jaquis Manigault, Braxton LeBlanc, and Donovan LeBlanc; great-grandchildren Carolena Jimenez-Manigault, Amara Jimenez-Manigault, and Cairo Manigault; sisters Mayola LeBlanc and Jean Metoyer; nieces Becky LeBlanc and Sondi LeBlanc; nephew Derrick Metoyer; great-niece Tamala Metoyer-Johnson; longtime friend Peggy Tucker; and a host of beloved cousins, relatives, and friends.
Albert's life was defined by service, strength, resilience, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to being himself. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
